Americans for Ibogaine Launches Following Texas Governor's Signing of Landmark Ibogaine Legislation

June 16, 2025

A new nonprofit organization, Americans for Ibogaine, has launched to support education, advocacy, and research surrounding ibogaine and its potential therapeutic applications. The announcement coincided with Texas allocating $50 million to support FDA-authorized clinical trials studying the compound, marking one of the largest public investments in psychedelic research to date.

The organization will work to expand awareness of ibogaine and support efforts to advance clinical research at both the state and federal levels. Former Texas Governor Rick Perry will serve as Chairman of the Board, with W. Bryan Hubbard as Chief Executive Officer, alongside a board that includes veterans’ advocates Marcus and Melanie Luttrell. Americans for Ibogaine also plans to convene policymakers and researchers to explore broader collaboration around ibogaine research in the United States and internationally.
